The Ferrari Testarossa's single side mirror, nicknamed the "flying mirror," is a high-mounted, slender stalk with a mirror on the driver's side. This distinctive feature was a result of an early European law that was interpreted as requiring 100% rearward visibility, which a single high mirror could fulfill. The high placement was also to improve visibility over the car's wide rear fenders, which could obstruct the view. Later models had a passenger-side mirror and the mirror was moved to a more conventional position starting with the 1987 model year.
