The Ferrari 288 GTO is a 1980s supercar, originally built for the Group B racing series, featuring a twin-turbocharged V8 engine and a Pininfarina-designed composite body. It was the first Ferrari to use a longitudinally mounted V8 with turbos and is considered the first of Ferrari's modern supercar lineage, setting a template for the F40, F50, Enzo, and LaFerrari. Though it never raced due to rule changes, the 288 GTO was highly successful, with 272 units produced, establishing a reputation for incredible performance and becoming a highly desirable collector's item.
