The BMW M3 GTR (E46) is a rare, homologation special sports car built with a 4.0-liter V8 engine to qualify a racing version for competition. It is distinguished by its aggressive, aerodynamic body kit, including a prominent rear wing, and a stripped-out, two-seat interior. Only three road-legal versions were built and are now part of the BMW Group Classic collection. The M3 CSL, on the other hand, was a distinct lightweight variant of the standard E46 M3, not the GTR, that featured a carbon-fiber roof and different body parts to achieve a 50:50 weight distribution.
