The Ford GT40 Mark II #1 was the car driven by Ken Miles and Denny Hulme at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans race, finishing second overall to a sister GT40 as Ford achieved a famous 1-2-3 victory. This Mk. II featured a powerful 7.0L (427 cu in) V8 engine, a durable steel monocoque chassis, and an improved aerodynamic body for high-speed stability. Ken Miles' driving was instrumental in refining the car's performance, especially after it was fitted with the larger V8 engine, making it capable of challenging Ferrari at Le Mans.
