In 1992, Michele Alboreto raced for Minardi in Formula 1, having joined the team in February with a two-year deal. His efforts to pre-qualify were largely unsuccessful due to the Lamborghini-powered car's unreliability, with his only race start of the season being at the Canadian Grand Prix, which he retired from. Despite the difficult season, he continued his career into 1993 with the Andrea Moda team, though he famously quit in August, calling the move a "disaster".
